Role of a Teacher
Last Monday, I had a very nice discussion with one of my colleagues about the role of a teacher. This conversation inspired me to write about my personal opinion on the subject.
Teacher/Lecturer
From a pragmatic perspective, the word "teacher" typically refers to someone who educates school-aged learners, whereas "lecturer" denotes a person who delivers specialized content to undergraduates. However, both these referential nouns can be broadly identified as educators (using educators as an umbrella term that includes teachers, lecturers, and others in similar roles).
It is commonly understood that an educator's role is to educate or teach. But is that their main role?
As a practitioner in the field, I believe, the role of a teacher is to create an environment where students feel motivated and engaged in the learning process. This enables students to develop a genuine desire to learn. The responsibility of an educator goes far beyond simply delivering content.
Nowadays, students tend to study rather than learn. They focus on studying merely to succeed in evaluations. However, if we, as educators, can inspire students to feel motivated and engaged in the process, we can nurture a generation of learners who are genuinely enthusiastic about the content, rather than studying just to pass exams.
Apparently, the role of a teacher is incredibly crucial. The influence of a true teacher extends far beyond the classroom!
A well-written precise article that delves into the real significant role of an educator and highlights a sad truth behind students tendency to prioritise exam evaluations over genuine enthusiasm into learning.
ReplyDeleteThis blog beautifully highlights the vital role teachers play in shaping not just academic knowledge but also personal growth. Their impact goes beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impression on students' lives.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with your point. And let me add something more: the teacher should have the ability to let the students practically engage in what they are learning, so that they will experience the lifelong outcomes.
ReplyDeleteThe teacher should be amiable. So that the students will feel a sense closeness.
ReplyDeleteNicely written article. As a practitioner in the field, especially related to healthcare we should let our students prctically apply the knowledge that they have learned.
ReplyDeleteOf course it goes beyond just imparting language. The teacher's role is a noble one since they are the ones who are responsible for the students' future.
ReplyDeleteNicely written, well precise article. Good job!
A teacher’s role is more about creating than simply transferring content from their head to the students’ heads. A teacher has the ability to mold the entire future of a child.
ReplyDeleteWe, as practitioners in the field, these knowledge is very important. Thanks for nice writing.
